From the Rabbit Room website (https://www.rabbitroom.com/housemoot):
What is Housemoot?
Every October, The Rabbit Room holds an in-person conference called "Hutchmoot" in Nashville. It’s an opportunity for people from far and wide to gather in Nashville to celebrate art, music, story, and faith.
We recognize that not everyone can make it out to Nashville so, we've created Housemoot. Housemoot is a do-it-yourself "conference kit" that you can use to create a “moot” experience in your own home. We'll provide you with a collection of new and original lectures, artistic interludes, recipes, and activities, that you can use to connect with people in your own communities.
You’ll get access to a curated collection of original lectures from some of our favorite writers, artists, theologians, and musicians.
Access to some of our favorite recipes to enjoy with friends
Artistic interludes with inspiring works of songwriting, poetry, and visual art.
A unique keynote speaker to celebrate the Housemoot 2024 gathering!
And more!
From me (Matt):
The Rabbit Room is a group that was inspired by The Inklings. You are probably familiar with two of it's members; C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. They were are group that simply discussed literature. The Rabbit Room was inspired by that group, and took the name of the room that the Inklings met in as their own. In the same manner, they have designed a conference for people to come together and have a conversation about art. Andrew Peterson (author of the Wingfeather Saga and Christian musician) is the founder of the group.
Some of the speakers listed are Ned Bustard, Doug McKelvey, Kyra Hinton, Ruth Naomi Floyd, Amy Baik Lee, Elissa Yukiko Weichbrodt, Jonathan Rogers, Marlita Hill, Jamin Still, Sarah Crowley Chestnut, Matthew Clark, and John Hendrix. The keynote speaker is Karen Swallow Prior.
I have never put on a Housemoot, nor have I attended one, but I do like the idea behind it. I would love to get a group of people together to simply have a conversation about art and the various forms of beauty that we encounter.
